John Rivers and Rivers Hardwood Floors

weI got my start in the hardwood floor restoration business in 1974 in Atlanta, Georgia where I met Michael Purser, of The Rosebud Company, who was and still is the best in the business.  We met while he was restoring one of the grand old homes in Inman Park, which was beginning to make a comeback after many years of decline.  Being a native of Atlanta I knew Inman Park very well and was looking for a new career.  He instructed me in the process and this was my beginning in the hardwood floor refinishing and restoration business.

This first work in Atlanta was in the older inner city neighborhoods, where mostly young and energetic homeowners wanted their old homes restored to their original splendor.  Working with many old and neglected hardwood floors - and having to make repairs of heart pine, walnut, oak, and maple – I became skilled in restoring these hardwood floors to their original mint condition.  My object was to make them fit the origin of the home.  Since these early beginnings and during my 35 years in the business, throughout the southeastern United States, I have restored hardwood floors in everything from Victorian mansions to Craftsman bungalows.
